A cademics B udget C ommon sense I am running to provide a voice of reason for those disenfranchised by the current Rochester School Board which operates in a one-sided ideological echo chamber. I will provide much needed diversity of opinion. I am and always will be the taxpayer’s best friend. I vehemently disagree with current expenditure priorities. Rigorous academic instruction is the schools’ most important function. The Board needs to focus budget expenditures on Academics, not Activism. Diverting funds from social engineering pursuits into academic- focused programs will enhance student proficiency and regain the public’s trust.

I want to make sure that all of our students can learn the subjects that will serve them best in their future. Achievement in Minnesota has dropped by a reported 40%. Students need to get back to core subjects, because emphasis on popular social subjects is not helping them succeed. Students need to learn the basics of reading, writing, math and science. Supporting learning is what schools need to accomplish.

I believe strongly that there is a need for greater participation by conservatives on our school boards across the country as well as In ISD 15 - St. Francis Schools. Honesty, hard work, transparency, integrity, faith, and family are the most important core values that i carry with me on a daily basis. Even though test scores did improve slightly in the last year in ISD 15, in general, it is quite clear that the quality of our educational systems around the country are in decline. It is essential that we reduce the noise in our schools and refocus on teaching core curriculum such as math, science, reading, writing, civics, trades, and history. It seems obvious that teachers and students are often distracted away from these subjects to cover topics that should be covered at home between parents and their children. Transparency in and around school board activities, new curriculum, and key decisions made involving our children's education and institutions needs to improve. We need a more concerted effort to truly engage with the community we serve as part of the School Board. To this role, I bring extensive executive and board experience that will prove very valuable to ISD 15 School Board Operations. You can count on me to be a strong conservative voice on the ISD 15 school board. Thank you, Tom Hall

Hello, I am Chad Working. I appreciate the opportunity to run for School Board in the great ISD15. I was born and raised in the northern metro area of MN. A 2001 Graduate of Spring Lake Park High School and have a Bachelor's degree in Corporate Finance from University of Minnesota, Mankato. I'm a family first man of faith. St Francis is a community where my wife Destinee, 3 children and I have called home for the last 10 years. I have volunteered for multiple events in ISD15. And have been a youth football, soccer and basketball coach for 7 years. Through that experience I want to encourage parents in our district to be active participants in our schools, even small ways. I am personally invested through my 2nd, 6th and 8th grade children in the district. I want the best education for them and all students. I will be committed to advocate for building community, school safety and post education readiness. I will focus on holding our superintendent accountable for the curriculum and leadership he was hired for. I will consider the wants and needs of our parents, teachers and staff when making decisions. I will stand for what's best for our students and make difficult decisions unbiased to what other districts or the state may be doing. I will be committed to represent you! Thank you and God bless

I have chosen to run for school board, because it's imperative that we return to academic based curriculum. The focus needs to be placed on critical thinking and research, not on "feelings" and agendas. Additionally, safety in our schools needs to be front and center. This includes holding students accountable for their daily behaviors. Finally, school administration needs to be held accountable for their spending and budgets. Although the cost per student has steadily gone up, the test scores have steadily gone down. During my term, I will work to understand the intricacies of these dynamics and how we can make St. Francis a better district for our children and taxpayers.

Followed closely with encouraging more parent/public involvement and last but certainly not least, to demonstrate to my own children how important their academic achievement is to their future success. I have yet to find in the provided literature how several of the newly implemented or proposed curriculum changes are proven, evidence based ways of helping MN step swiftly and confidently out of the academic hole in which we currently find ourselves. MDE affirms that many have been left behind in the wake of Equity. Something needs to change.

I'm running because I truly care about working with all kids. It's what I do for a living. I also volunteer my skills for free, not just in our own community, but other communities as well, to help kids discover their self-worth and empower them to push themselves when the goal or obstacle might seem impossible. So, to keep this short, here are my top 3 reasons why I am running: 1. Safety. Kids need to feel safe when they attend school. They should not have to worry about being harassed and assaulted. They need to know that all the staff has their back when they report an issue. 2. Grades. Instead of looking at just one race of kids that are failing. We need to help all the students that are failing. We also need to teach kids accountability. If they don't learn this in school, they will struggle in the future. 3. Community. We need to listen to all sides of an opinion. Not attack someone because they don't agree with your opinion. We need to come together as a community and find a common ground. It all starts with this question: Is it best for our kids?

Our current reading and math scores are falling behind other districts, and our special education team, despite their dedication, is stretched thin due to insufficient staffing. Another critical issue is the content available in our school libraries. It’s important that we ensure age-appropriate materials for our children. I am running for school to first of all give back to the school district that has supported my daughter from elementary to high school. As an active Moms for Liberty member in my community I work with both parents and the school to help improve our district. With teacher walk-outs at Parkside and parents asking me how to get their children out of our schools I would like to focus on increasing teacher support. This would help to increase the safety at our schools and facilitate a better learning environment. Our district has repeatedly scored less and less on statewide proficiency tests, this tells me that our district needs to start doing things differently. Changes in curriculum seem necessary to institute more focus on merit-based activities. Another item that could use more detail in the district's budget. With the BHM budget cresting just over $100,000,000 (Yes 100 million) I have to wonder why every sports team must fundraise not just a few hundred dollars to do fun stuff, but thousands of dollars. The kids are selling things, some teams have just turned to group-funding where parents/grandparents can go just donate money. I am unafraid to ask the questions that need to be asked. I will not just be a ‘yes’ vote. A vote for me is a vote for your voice on the school board.

Improving academic performance, improving accountability and reducing administrative bureaucracy are my top priorities. There is so much we can do to be there for the students and teachers. I want every teacher to be supported and equipped with the tools necessary to ensure every student thrives. I want to see parents involved in every aspect of the district, from being involved in school board meetings, to their children's success, and the safety of their schools. The school board represents the people and parents, and I want to ensure they have their voices heard.

I'm not a politician. My only goal is to give back to the community that my family and I have called home for 20 years. I believe in Becker schools and the excellent educational opportunity that they provide for our students. The boards responsibility is to represent the community, set policies for the schools and ensure that those policies are being implemented. I believe in a conservative philosophy that stresses … • Parental involvement • Fiscal responsibility • Fair, consistent, and equal treatment of students • Keeping personal bias and political activism out of our schools

I am running for school board to ensure our children's schools are the best in the state. I desire to give back to my community and represent them by serving another term. I will strive to fix specific issues in our district, like increasing student achievement, improve school safety (fights and cyberbullying) and get back to basics (reading, writing, math, science) and not social engineering. I have always told the truth to the stakeholders and will continue to be consistent with my voting.

President Lincoln once said, "The philosophy of the classroom in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next." As a parent of three children, I have witnessed firsthand the positives and negatives of the modern-day school system. As a member of the board, I will prioritize student outcomes over adult agendas. I will fight for parents to be recognized as important collaborators in their own children's education and provide teachers with the support they need to effectively run their classrooms. I believe that the quality of our children's education has a direct impact on the quality of their potential futures. Our first priority should be to deliver just that.

As a parent and licensed School Counselor, I’ve been advocating for children and parents voices for many years. Presently, the stakes are too great to remain silent and complacent. Education works best when we have engaged parents working collaboratively with caring teachers to create a unified and safe place for all children to learn, grow, and thrive. If we don’t have truth and transparency, then how can we expect parents to trust us with their children? Fracturing trust with families in our community is diverting time, resources, and energy away from real teaching and learning. Parents play an integral role in a child’s learning and development and possess the fundamental rights to have the ultimate authority as the guiding voice of their child, to instill beliefs and values, and are to have notice and consent before their child can be asked about certain subject matters. Parents should be informed of the truth regarding their child’s education and their mental health so that it doesn’t fracture the inherent trust between parents and schools nor drive a wedge between the parent-child relationship.

I decided to run for School Board after learning that the district eliminated elementary school librarians. Our grandson has developed an interest in reading and had enjoyed checking out library books. Research shows that reading skills are very critical to later success in both school and in life. Elementary libraries provide reading that can be fun as well as educational for our students. Students are expected to be able to read and understand textbooks throughout their entire school career.
