| I’m a dad of five, the CEO of a national education organization, and a former university administrator and Forest Lake firefighter. I’m running because I want Forest Lake to be the district families choose with confidence.
I believe parents are essential partners, teachers deserve the support to teach well, and students deserve safe, orderly classrooms with high expectations. However, high expectations alone are not enough. Students need to understand why those expectations matter. They need goals worth pursuing and a clear connection between the choices they make today and the opportunities available to them tomorrow. We should help students develop a sense of purpose and understand that effort, discipline, responsibility and achievement open doors. We should teach students how to think, not what to think, and prepare them for what comes next, whether that is college, the trades, military service, entrepreneurship or the workforce. A school board should represent the community, work constructively with administration, set clear and accountable expectations, deliver on transparency, and steward taxpayer dollars wisely. I want every Forest Lake student to leave our schools knowing where they want to go, why it matters to them, and what it will take to get there. |
