| As a father of four, I feel it is my responsibility to step forward and represent the students, parents, and community members of District 482. The current division within our district, brought on by the Board of Education, is not sustainable and will not lead to success. The results of last spring’s referendum clearing displayed that. If the lack of foresight is not addressed, it will have lasting negative effects on our students and residents.
Our district is facing a decline in enrollment each year. The state funding generated by these students could help address the necessary repairs and maintenance our district needs. District leaders have not done enough to retain and recruit new students. Many district residents are choosing to enroll their children in neighboring districts, further hurting our district’s finances. The district needs to take bold action to try and retain and recruit every possible student. |
